oh holy night
look at the stars and try to fight
how simple was the world
when simple was the girl
i told the boy the truth
thought there was nothing we could lose

we lost our worth.
came hurtling toward the end
ends buttons loose

i've met you before
time will tell if i am right
or just plain wrong
and to quote my heroes
i always say
we can work it out.

i have my masters in memory

i tell people i've got a master's in memories
making them feel longer than a second
but only letting you see the second that they stuck.
and as for him and his heart well
i'm in for the long haul in my head
though the sad truth is
i'm always choosing the other end of a road
they call it running away but at least it's somewhere to go.

just a snippet

the days hung on in the wake so
we were mindlessly filling time with algebra
and mile runs and scholarships and a virtually ignored, exploding sadness -
oh the noise we heard when what we saw was madness

he threw his fist onto the world as
she buried herself in her youth and let it decay.

Been flipping through a book I bought on sale at the Strand not too long ago, Annie Leibowitz's American Music. Finally found it for under $30. Photo books tend to be expensive, but when I can get one that cheaply, I have to splurge. I think the layout of the book is incredible, and love how her striking images of that passion which we call music are interspersed with personal essays from some of music's biggest names. Definitely check it out if you haven't already. My local library has a copy in their possession... I kinda lusted after the book for so long, that I finally had to buy a copy of my own.
